Diploma in Hairdressing Accredited Course level 3

Time: 195. GLH Online and in-house

Course comprises of theory and practical tuition carried out at either the Academy or your workplace with assignments completed as home study.

Beginner’s Hairdressing Course is specifically designed to provide students with an intensive 6 month programme on practical skills and theory in which they will learn the necessary practical and theoretical skills to either work in a salon, or become a freelance hairdresser.

This course is taught by qualified educators who incorporate theory work, special projects, demonstrations and hands-on workshops. Your tutor will guide you through the stages of the course and monitor your personal progress. Throughout the accredited Level 2 Beginner’s Hairdressing Course you will have your own clients to enable you to build a portfolio of all your work, consisting of photographic evidence and practical assignments. You will be assessed in both theory and practical areas throughout this course. Students are required to bring in a camera to take photos during this course as part of their portfolio of evidence for assessment purposes. Our courses have a maximum of 3 students per class offering an amazing student to tutor ratio.

  • Health, hygiene, safety & legislation
  • Preparation of therapist, tools, work area and client
  • Consultation/record cards
  • Contra-indications and contra-actions / Aftercare advice
  • Theory of anatomy & physiology: hair and skin
  • Equipment and products – kit is required to complete
  • Step-by-step guide on basic cutting techniques
  • Step-by-step guide on one length above shoulder
  • Step-by-step guide on long graduation
  • Step-by-step guide on uniform layers
  • Shampooing and styling hair / blow-dry / setting hair / basic hair colour
  • Written assessment / Practical assessment with case studies –
  • Guidance on portfolio building if needed
  • Workbooks are completed as self study at home to reinforce learning
  • Plan of course will be set with your tutor over 4 week period – tutorial outline

You can offer this course as 6 month programme

All your students will need to do is the following

  • Complete practical photographic evidence
  • Complete assignment work
  • You can introduce your own course work , this could be an existing programme you have in place

All students  will need the willingness to learn and complete no previous experience requires

 Practical Skills on different techniques:

 Introduction to course work health and safety, setting up work area, contra-indications, consultation and practical skills on full treatment, post treatment advice and contra-actions
Review of skills development through practical observation/formative assessment and summative  Assignment evidence provided
